On Wednesday The Salvation Army’s Territorial Candidates Council met and considered my application for officership. The result was “Not yet recommended” which means that I will have to go back to an Assessment Conference this time next year after going through the things that the Army feel will benefit my future officership.
The positive part is that from the information I’ve seen so far, they don’t doubt my calling at all and in fact seem very keen to have me. However, there is this one area they want me to work on before being considered again next year!
So apart from being a little shocked and confused, I need to pick myself up and get on with life. It does though, throw our plans for the summer into total confusion as at this precise second we have no home or jobs from mid-August and no idea at all where we will live in the UK.
We know though that we can trust in God as He has everything in hand and will not let us down in anyway!
We will be praying for you as you go into this year of preparation. I want to give you this quote from Tim Storey.
“Sometime you have to go left to come right”
God definetly has a plan for you for the next year and it is exciting to see that he has prepared.
God is good and he will take care of you all!
It is the old teaching that sometimes God says “yes”, sometimes “no” and then sometimes “wait” - often the most difficult is the “wait”, but wait really is a yes, just not yet. There is no doubt God will take care of you all four - you have placed your lives and wills in his hands, gone in faith, and God will honour that. That does not mean you heads will not be spinning just now, trying to work out what will happen in August - that is just normal, but God will take care of you.
We will continue to think and pray for you and who knows, maybe we will end up close to each other in some months?
PS!
Some claim there is a fourth answer from God to our prayers: “You must be joking!” - you can take heart that was neither His, nor the Army’s answer.
Thanks for the encouragement everyone! Things are somewhat up and down at the moment, although mostly up. The positives are that we again to realise how many people love and care about us.

PS: Henrik, is that a job offer?
Remembering you and the family in prayer.
God bless
Carol
I will be praying for you and your family. It will be interesting to read what news you will have as you move forward with what the next year will bring for you.
I too am in a bit of a state of flux since, for financial reasons, I will not be able to attend the Training College in Canada this year. My job will be changing and I’m excited, although somewhat unsure, about what lies ahead.
All the best.
