The questions of belonging

What is it that gives me my sense of belonging to a church or corps? What makes me feel as if I belong to it?

Is it the sense of belonging to a community of people who love each other? Is it a commitment to the mission of the corps/church? Is it the style of the worship that makes me feel at home?

Or do I simply go because that is where I’ve always gone? Or rather where I’ve been sent!

Why do I belong? Why even ask? Why?

Isn’t it enough just to belong? Isn’t it? Do I?

Lots of questions but no answers! I don’t know, but there must be a reason; there must be a purpose!

I’d like to offer an answer to the above questions…
I can’t, but I’d like to. We’re both running through those very same questions about belonging – where, if why…

I know I have felt I belong. I’m now sure if or where or how I do now but I guess I’m looking forward to working it out

    Dave,

Recommend you get hold of a book called Chrysalis by Alan Jamieson. Might shed light on what’s happening for you guys at the moment!

I know exactly how you feel. I feel bad for having so many questions without answers sometimes especially when its about what it means to be part of the SA. It’s a question I think the Army as a whole need to get its head round because if people that belong to the SA are asking the question of themselves then heaven help those that come across our Church or come into our programme.

Don’t stop questioning though, even if you only get a couple of answers it’ll be more than you started with.
